Serving Downtown Auburn Indiana since 1940

Over the years DABA has presented many outdoor summer art exhibits in downtown Auburn Indiana. Following in the footsteps of the Auburn Arts Commission's highly successful; "Sculptures on the Square" exhibit in 2007 and 2010, DABA felt it was necessary to continue with the annual tradition that has made Auburn a destination for the many visitors who enjoy outdoor public art. Local carpenter Pat Payton builds the items that become the canvas for each artist's creation.

2008 "Out of the Box" was the debut exhibit and featured wooden boxes in the Trompe L' Oeil art style.

In 2009 the “Sitting Pretty” exhibit featured wooden benches and was another huge success.

2011's exhibit entitled "Easel Mania"Slices of Auburn featured 20 large wooden easels depicting views of local interest and history.

In 2012 talents of local & regional artists were featured on a canvas of Adirondack chairs in the exhibit entitled "Kick Back Adirondack Art".

2013's exhibit was entitled "Gather at the Gate" Auburn's Gateway to Art 2013. The exhibit featured 20 wooden garden gates, each depicting themes in different artistic styles.

Featuring the talents of local and regional artists in these exhibits has been the focal point for DABA, and we have encouraged participation from many artists who have showcased their talents through different styles and mediums. In addition to the artists, businesses have participated financially by contributing and sponsoring each exhibit. Together, supporting the arts in Auburn brings visitors to our community and further strengthens our ability to attract new businesses in the future.

Each exhibit opens in June and runs through Labor Day.

Following the close of the exhibit, each entry is sold to the highest bidder at the annual DABA Art Auction. The price paid for each entry is split between the artist and DABA. DABA uses the funds generated for many community projects throughout the year in Auburn.
